Top Credit Card Specialist Joins DBS

TO SPEARHEAD AN AGGRESSIVE GROWTH PROGRAMME FOR DBS CARD BUSINESS IN THE REGION

SINGAPORE, NOV 17 - DBS Bank today appointed Sylvia de la Cruz as Managing Director, DBS Card Services. de la Cruz will manage all DBS card products in this region, including the credit and debit cards, ATM cards, smartcards and cashcards.

de la Cruz's immediate tasks will include developing and implementing strategic plans to aggressively grow the Singapore card business, launch the DBS planned new credit card in Hong Kong and grow the existing card business for DBS Thai Danu Bank in Thailand.

She will report to Philippe Paillart, Senior Managing Director, who heads DBS' Consumer Banking Group.

"Sylvia will be a great addition to our winning team at DBS. She has personally established more credit card businesses than anyone else in the world and is widely recognised for her technical skills as well as her unique ability to grow businesses and develop people," said Paillart.

Paillart has been in the card business for more than 20 years. He served on the boards of both VISA and MasterCard in Asia Pacific, and founded the International Cards Council.

"Sylvia is without any doubt one of the top five credit card managers in the world and we are very fortunate to have her on board. Her vast experience in this area will boost our aim to be the best consumer banking group in Asia, " he said.

Prior to joining DBS, de la Cruz was based in Hong Kong and was responsible for the card business of Standard Chartered Bank. She led the team that established and developed card businesses in all the major centres in the region for the London-based bank.

A native of The Philippines, de la Cruz holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from St. Paul College in Manila.
