Two New POSB Initiatives Cap Landmark Year For Refreshed POSB Brand

SINGAPORE, DEC 6 - DBS unveiled its new look POSB branch layout and style at Yishun Central today, as part of a programme to refresh and revitalise the POSB brand.

Officiating the event was Mr Ong Ah Heng, Member of Parliament for Nee Soon Central, and Mr Philippe Paillart, DBS Bank's CEO.

"I am delighted that the Yishun Central residents will be the first to enjoy the new and refreshed POSB branch style. I think it is commendable that DBS continues to invest in initiatives that benefit Singaporeans and make banking more accessible and convenient," said Mr Ong Ah Heng.

The new look POSB branch is vibrant with visuals that make the banking environment more friendly and comfortable for customers. The new branch provides customers a choice of self-service banking facilities, customer-service and teller counters for quick inquiries and transactions, and other customer services. In this particular branch, seated areas are also available for more sophisticated services like investment solutions or loans.

"Our customers are at the centre of everything we do. Our new POSB branch design provides a more conducive, open and friendly environment for our valued customers as they bank with us. This is also our way of deepening relationships with our customers, by providing them with refreshed and updated services," said Mr Philippe Paillart.

DBS also announced today the introduction of its new reward scheme exclusive for its POSB customers, called the "ENJOY POSB Simple Pleasures" loyalty programme. This "ENJOY POSB Simple Pleasures" loyalty programme offers customers immediate and valuable discounts at over one hundred merchant-outlets island-wide, simply by showing their POSB ATM or Credit/Debit and other POSB linked cards.

Working with its partners Motorola and SingTel, the first-ever POSB loyalty programme will offer POSB cardholders* an exclusive mobile phone deal - a free Motorola T190 phone with a low-cost second mobile line at $6 per month. If POSB customers subscribe to a new main line and a supplementary line with SingTel, they will be entitled to two free Motorola T190 mobile phones.

"This is our way of saying thank you to our loyal customers for banking with POSB all this time. We also want to continue to build on our relationship with our customers by continuing to provide not only friendly and affordable basic banking services, but value added services as well.' said Mrs Elsie Foh, Managing Director of DBS' Personal Banking.

* This includes the POSB ATM card, the POSB Debit & Credit Card and the NTUC Link card with POSB ATM-linked facility.

The plan to revitalise POSB branches and the new POSB loyalty programme is part of a broader effort by DBS to revitalise and redeliver the POSB brand.

2001 is a milestone year for POSB, with a number of new POSB initiatives, which included:

  • Bringing supermarket banking to Singapore for the first time. To date, there are 7 POSB Centres at NTUC FairPrice supermarkets throughout Singapore;

  • Launching the first POSB Debit/Credit card, that has to date received more than 60,000 applications;

  • Introducing more self-service banking facilities, with 136 Cash Deposit Machines, and the replacement of ATM machines in the network;

  • Opening of the new look POSB branch in Yishun Central;

  • Rewarding customers with the first-ever "ENJOY POSB Simple Pleasures" loyalty programme.
