SINGAPORE, March 28 - DBS reported it was the target of false and malicious rumours that some of its POSB Collyer Quay Branch staff have been infected with Severe Acute Respiratory Symptoms (SARS) virus. A DBS spokesperson said DBS has no report that any DBS staff has been infected by the SARS virus.

DBS is operating at full strength. "We assure customers that all necessary precautions have been taken to safeguard the interest of our staff and customers, " said the DBS spokesperson.

We have evidence that the unfounded rumours originated from one of our competitors and have lodged a complaint with the Singapore Exchange and the MAS.
