Qualifying chances awarded double that of previous year’s
SINGAPORE, 14 August 2006 – DBS Bank announced today the winner of its
DBS American Express Black Card lucky draw at the New Majestic Hotel.
The winner, Mr Kelvin Ng Kong Teng, will drive away the coveted Lamborghini
Gallardo after beating more than 130,000 DBS Black Cardholders in Singapore,
making him the 67th owner of a Lamborghini in Singapore.
"The DBS American Express Black Card opens the door to a world of exclusive
privileges for the high-flyer accustomed to the finer things in life.
For a card that denotes strength, confidence and an immaculate sense of
style, Lamborghini is the perfect partner for DBS American Express Black
Card to be associated with," says Mr Raymond Ang, Managing Director &
Regional Head of Cards and Unsecured Loans, DBS Bank.
"We are very heartened that the DBS American Express Black Card is such
a popularly used credit card that it has resulted in a two-fold increase
in qualifying chances awarded from the previous year’s draw when a Ferrari
Modena was given away," continued Mr Ang. "The success of the card shows
that cardmembers are enjoying the exclusive offers and discounts with
the merchants we bring on board."
"The success is a testimonial of our understanding and appreciation of
our Asian consumers' growing sophistication in their lifestyle choices.
Our DBS American Express Black Card simply epitomises the New Asian attitudes
– that of being bold, dynamic and dare-to-be-different."
Mr Kula Kulendran, Senior Vice President, Head of Global Network Services,
Japan, Asia-Pacific and Australia, American Express International, Inc.
said: "The phenomenal success of the DBS American Express Black Card is
a strong testament to DBS’ creative marketing campaign which has once
again delivered impressive results and helped to expand the growth of
American Express branded cards in Singapore. The success of the DBS American
Express Black Card is an excellent example of the successful global network
card strategy that American Express adopts in 19 countries in the Asia
Pacific region."
The DBS American Express Black Card was launched in October 2003, and
is the first and only card that offers perpetually double the reward points
on all charges, and 4 times the reward points at participating luxury
boutiques. This card is by far the most successful card in the DBS stable,
boasting a card base in excess of 130,000 in less than 3 years since its
launch.
In the region, there are nearly 200,000 DBS American Express Black Cardholders
from Singapore and Hong Kong combined. In fact, in Hong Kong, the DBS
American Express Black Card Ferrari F430 marketing and communication campaign
was awarded the bronze Effie Award 2006 in the banking and financial services/insurance
category. The award celebrates effectiveness in advertising, and getting
it is an international recognition of DBS’ deep understanding of the region
and our customers’ needs.
