Important Notes

  1. All TravellerShield Plans are available to Singaporeans and persons ordinarily residing in Singapore (including foreigners holding work pass or work permit) for round trip commencing and returning to Singapore within the period of insurance.
  2. Adult means a person age 18 years and above at the commencement of any trip. Child means the Insured's legal child who is unmarried and unemployed, age above one month and below 18 years or up to 23 years of age if studying full time in a recognised institution of higher learning at the commencement of any trip.
  3. Family Cover means a policy issued to the Insured in respect of the Insured Persons who are travelling as a family, who may comprise the Insured, his/her legal spouse and any number of their legal Child. However, for an Annual Policy, the Insured Persons under a Family Cover are not required to travel together on a trip.
  4. For Family Cover each Insured Person is subject to the limit applicable under Individual Cover and the limit for Family Cover in the aggregate for the whole family applies (where applicable).
  5. Maximum period for any one trip is 180 consecutive days (except for annual cover in which case it is 90 consecutive days) from the departure date.
  6. Child under 12 years old must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian during the trip.
  7. This Policy does not cover any loss, injury or liability arising directly or indirectly from circumstances or medical conditions giving rise to a claim under this Policy known to have existed prior to the Period of Insurance.
  8. If you are insured under more than one travel insurance policy underwritten by MSIG Insurance for the same trip, MSIG Insurance will only be liable for the policy which provides the highest benefits limits.
  9. For a single return trip policy, you may cancel the policy at any time prior to commencement of the Period of Insurance, provided no claim is made and MSIG Insurance will retain a minimum premium of S$50.
  10. Where the Policy is for an Annual Policy, you may cancel your policy at any time during the Period of Insurance by giving 7 days written notice to MSIG Insurance and you will be entitled to a refund of premium based on short period rate for the period the policy has been in force provided no claim is made. No refund is allowed if your policy is in force for more than 180 days. MSIG Insurance may cancel the Policy at any time by giving 7 days' notice of cancellation in writing to your last known address and MSIG Insurance will in such a case return a pro rata portion of the premium for the unexpired Period of Insurance.

Choose your TravellerShield plan in 5 easy steps

TravellerShield is open to all Singaporeans and foreigners residing in Singapore (with Employment Pass or Work Permit) and travelling for round trips from and to Singapore.

Just answer these 5 simple questions to find the TravellerShield plan that suits your needs.

  1. How many people are travelling?

Individual Plan - If you are travelling on your own and/or up to up to 6 individuals (including yourself)

Family Plan - If you are travelling as a family (yourself, your legal spouse and any number of legal children up to the age of 18 years1). This option gives you a significantly discounted rate compared to individual insurance covers. For the Single Trip Plan, the family needs to travel together but for the Annual Plan, family members can travel separately.

  2. How often are you likely to travel?

Single Trip Plan - For a single round trip, with premiums based on the number of days you are out.

Annual Plan - For any number of round trips during a 12-month period. The Annual Plan option makes sense for the frequent traveller, since it results in significantly lower premiums per trip. It is also a lot more convenient, since you don't have to call and activate the policy each time.

  3. How far are you going?

The cost of insurance depends on how far you travel. To make things easier, we have divided the world into three areas - and your premium increases the further you go from Singapore. Select the furthest point of your itinerary for the right travel insurance cover. If your country of travel is not listed here, it will fall within Area 3.

Area 1: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

Area 2: Australia, China (excluding Inner Mongolia and Tibet), Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Macau, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, including countries in Area 1.

Area 3: Worldwide including countries in Area1 and Area 2.

  4. How much coverage do you need?

Classic Plan - Typically, this covers all situations you are likely to face on your travels - from lost luggage to hospitalisation in a foreign country.

Premier Plan - This gives you a higher coverage amount for major benefits and provides cover for additional situations - from car rental excesses to credit card loss.

Platinum Plan - This offers the highest coverage for unforeseen situations such as injuries and illness. You can travel far and wide knowing that you have the safety net when things go wrong. The Platinum Plan costs a little more than the Premier Plan. Click here to view the table of benefits for Classic Plan, Premier Plan and Platinum Plan.

  5. How much would you like to spend?

Your premium cost depends on all the factors discussed above. For example, the Family Plan will cost more than the Individual Plan.
