1. What is DBS PayLah!?

DBS PayLah! is a personal mobile wallet which allows you to perform funds transfer via a mobile number. You can now pay and receive money instantly from others with ease.

2. How can I be eligible for DBS PayLah!?

You have to be at least 16 years of age.

In addition, you will need to have all of the following;

  1. An iBanking account;
  2. DBS/POSB savings/current account (Personal or Joint-Alternate accounts only); and,
  3. Smartphone with a Singapore registered 8-digit mobile number
3. How do I get DBS PayLah!?

Simply download and install the DBS PayLah! app from Google Play Store or iTunes App Store on your smartphone.

4. How do I start using DBS PayLah!?
Step 1:

Open the downloaded app and perform a one-time activation by keying the following in the DBS PayLah! app as per the order below;

  • your DBS iBanking User ID & PIN; and,
  • 6-digit SMS Secure PIN sent to your smartphone; or,
  • One-Time Password generated by your iBanking token
Step 2:

Link one of your DBS/POSB savings/current accounts to the DBS PayLah! wallet.

Step 3:

Create your own 6 alphanumeric DBS PayLah! personal password.

Please note that your use of DBS PayLah! is subject to your acceptance of our terms and conditions.

5. Is DBS PayLah! safe to use?

DBS PayLah! is designed with safety features such as:

  1. For first time DBS PayLah! login, you will need to complete a one-time authentication process by keying the following in the DBS PayLah! app as per the order below;
    • your DBS iBanking User ID & PIN; and,
    • 6-digit SMS Secure PIN sent to your smartphone; or,
    • One-Time Password generated by your iBanking token
  2. For subsequent logins, you can just key in your 6 alphanumeric DBS PayLah! personal password. We recommend that you change your password regularly by tapping on Settings > Reset PayLah! Password.
  3. Your DBS PayLah! wallet limit and daily transfer limit are each capped at SGD 999 by default. You can adjust both limits to levels that you are comfortable with.
  4. For enhanced security, we recommend that you lock your smartphone with a password.
6. What if I forget my DBS PayLah! password?

If you forget your DBS PayLah! password, you may click on the “I forgot my PayLah! Password” link in the login page. You will be prompted to re-activate DBS PayLah! as listed in step 1 of question 4 above.

7. Do I need to pay to use DBS PayLah!?

No, DBS PayLah! is free of charge.

8. What if the person I am sending money to does not have DBS PayLah!?

The recipient will receive an SMS alert to download the DBS PayLah! app within 14 business days. The funds will be automatically credited into his/her DBS PayLah! wallet once he/she successfully registers.

9. What if the recipient does not download DBS PayLah! app to receive the money sent?

We will send an SMS to remind your recipient to download the DBS PayLah! app and complete the registration in order to receive the money that you have sent.

If your recipient does not do so within 14 business days, we will automatically refund the full amount back to your DBS PayLah! wallet. You will receive a push notification from the app to inform you about the refund. You may also view the refund in your Transaction History.

10. Can I have more than one DBS PayLah! wallet?

No. Each customer can register for one DBS PayLah! wallet on one smartphone only.

11. What should I do if I lose my smartphone?

If you lose your smartphone, simply call 1800-111-1111 (or (65) 6327 2265 from overseas) or visit any of our branches. As far as possible, we will strive to help to block your DBS PayLah! wallet to prevent it from being compromised. At any time, you may also request to close your wallet and have the wallet balance credited back to your linked DBS/POSB savings/current account. Please note that DBS is not liable for any loss suffered by you arising from the loss of your smartphone.

12. What happens if I want to change to a new smartphone and/or mobile number?

New Smartphone:

Step 1:

Simply download and install the DBS PayLah! app from Google Play Store or iTunes App Store on your smartphone.

Step 2:

Open the downloaded app and perform a one-time activation by keying the following in the DBS PayLah! app as per the order below;

  • your DBS iBanking User ID & PIN; and,
  • 6-digit SMS Secure PIN sent to your smartphone; or,
  • One-Time Password generated by your iBanking token
Step 3:

Key in your existing DBS PayLah! personal password.

Your latest balance and past transaction records will automatically be available on your new smartphone.

New Mobile Number:

You can update the mobile number linked to your DBS PayLah! wallet by tapping on Settings > Change Mobile Number. After updating, a 6-digit SMS Secure PIN will be sent to your new mobile number for authentication.

Note:
Changing the mobile number linked to your DBS PayLah! wallet will not automatically update the mobile number registered in your personal records with the Bank.

13. How can I top-up my DBS PayLah! wallet?

Method 1: DBS PayLah! app
Tap on Menu > Top-Up and enter the amount you want to top-up (minimum SGD 5.00). The funds will be transferred from your linked DBS/POSB bank account.

Method 2: DBS iBanking
In your iBanking account, click on PayLah!New in the left navigation menu

Method 3: DBS mBanking
In your mBanking account, click on Top-up PayLah! on the main menu

14. Can I top-up money with funds from non-DBS/POSB bank accounts or from someone else’s bank accounts?

No, you can only top-up your DBS PayLah! wallet from the DBS/POSB bank account that is linked to your DBS PayLah! wallet.

15. How do I send money from my DBS PayLah! wallet?

You can send money to others by tapping on Menu > Send Money (or on the Homepage) by entering your recipient’s name (as stored in your contact list) or mobile number and the amount that you wish to send (minimum SGD 0.01).

You can choose to add a short message and/or a fun sticker if you like.

16. Can I send money to someone who:
  1. is not in my smartphone contact list?
    Yes, you can. On the Send Money page, simply enter the recipient’s Singapore registered 8-digit mobile number.
  2. does not have a Singapore registered mobile number?
    No, you can only send money to recipients who have a Singapore registered mobile number.
17. Can I transfer money from my DBS PayLah! wallet to my DBS/POSB savings/current account?

Yes, you can transfer money from your DBS PayLah! wallet back to your linked DBS/POSB bank account. Simply tap on Menu > Send to My Account and enter the amount you want to transfer.

18. How do I receive money from my friends?
  1. For existing DBS PayLah! users, the money from senders will be credited instantly into your wallet.
  2. For non-existing DBS PayLah! users, the money will not be credited into your wallet until you register for DBS PayLah!.
19. Can I set a limit on my DBS PayLah! wallet?

Yes, you can set the wallet limit to a maximum of SGD 999 by tapping on Settings > Change max PayLah! Wallet Limit.

Note:

  • If you set your wallet limit to SGD 0, all incoming funds will be automatically sent to your linked DBS/POSB bank account. You will also not be able to send money to others.
  • If someone sends you an amount which exceeds your wallet limit, the excess amount will be automatically sent to your linked DBS/POSB bank account. You will see this automatic transfer of the excess amount as a Maxed-Out transaction in your Transaction History.
    E.g. You have set your wallet limit as SGD 200. You transferred SGD 40 to your friend for a meal. The remaining wallet balance is now SGD 160. Your friend transfers SGD 100 to you for a gadget you helped him to buy. However, as the wallet limit is capped at SGD 200, the excess SGD 60 will be credited to your DBS/POSB savings/current account directly and the DBS PayLah! wallet will show a balance of SGD 200.
20. Can I limit the amount I can transfer per day on my DBS PayLah! wallet?

Yes, you can set a daily transfer limit of SGD 100, SGD 200, SGD 500 or SGD 999 for your DBS PayLah! wallet. Tap on Settings > Daily Transfer Limit to do so.
E.g. If you have set your daily transfer limit as SGD 100 but would like to send SGD 60 each to two different friends,. you will only be able to pay one friend in full as the total amount of SGD 120 is higher than your daily transfer limit.

21. What if I want to close my DBS savings/current account(s)?

Please inform the branch staff that you have a DBS PayLah! wallet when closing your DBS savings/current account(s). When you close your linked DBS savings/current account(s), the balance in the wallet will be refunded to you. Please note that DBS reserves the right to deal with the unclaimed amount if your wallet has not been used for a period of one year and if you have not given any instructions to DBS to close your wallet.
