POSB cares for the young and their future
As part of POSB’s effort in educating the young on saving for the future, POSB and The Singapore Mint have been going around primary schools to present “Recycling Makes Cents!”. This programme aims to educate students on the importance of coin recycling to conserve the environment and save money.
To make it easier for children to save into their POSBkids or POSB Savings account, POSB also installed coin deposit machines at the schools. This is the very first time students from selected primary schools got to experience coin recycling by depositing coins all by themselves in their school compound.
Why Recycle Coins?
- An estimate of 300 to 500 coins1 sit idle in every Singaporean household.
- Every coin successfully put back into the economy via the coin deposit will mean one less to produce.
- This reduces the use of raw materials, and in turn reduces the discharge of toxic waste that pollutes our environment.
