About DriveShield Policy
-
What is DriveShield?
DriveShield is a comprehensive motor insurance product to cover your Singapore-registered private motor vehicle. There is a choice of two plans under DriveShield, the Value Plan or the Premier Plan.
-
What are the key differences between the Value Plan and Premier Plan?
Value Plan - All claims related to repairs must be carried out at any of the MSIG authorized workshops. There are more than 35 MSIG authorised workshops islandwide for your convenience.
Premier Plan - Drivers can choose their own workshop (including the manufacturer’s agent in Singapore) for accident repairs. It also provides enhanced coverage such as personal accident benefits; transport allowance; new for old replacement and loan protection benefit.
The Premier Plan costs a little more than the Value Plan.

This benefit does not apply to total loss or constructive total loss caused by flood, theft or robbery of the insured vehicle.

It is determined by the recent transactions sourced from publications such as newspapers, motoring guides and information from car dealers.
- What is the No Claims Discount (NCD) Protector and how does it work?
If you have accumulated 50% NCD, you may choose to buy protection against the loss of the discount, subject to payment of an additional premium.

Do I need to insure the COE and PARF?
We recommend that you insure your car including COE and PARF.
If there is a total loss claim due to theft or severe damage, the insurer will pay the full market value of the vehicle prevailing at the time of the loss or damage, inclusive of COE and PARF values. You will not be required to make separate claims for these items from the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

If you have accumulated 50% No Claim Discount (NCD), you can choose to buy protection against the loss of the NCD following one accident by paying an additional premium of 10%, subject to minimum of $50 per annum. If there are three or more claims during the policy year, NCD is reduced to nil. Please note that Protected NCD entitlement is not transferable when you switch insurer.
