Security & You

Security Best Practices

At DBS, we will uphold the confidentiality of your personal information when you bank with us. Security is very important to us and we are committed to provide you with a safe and secure online environment for your banking needs.

You will be glad to know that DBS invest in security to protect your online transactions in the following ways.

Use of 128-bits Extended Validated Secure Socket Layer (SSL). DBS uses extended validation VeriSign SSL certificate and Verisign logo which appears on DBS / POSB iBanking site. The seal will show customer the valid SSL cert and validity of the DBS / POSB iBanking site. This is an assurance that the bank's website runs legitimately under the care of DBS Bank. All confidential information transmitted to and from the bank is protected under SSL to guard against eavesdropping and unauthorised access.
Personal Identification Number (PIN) and unique User Identification (UID). We have put in place a double-authentication login process whereby customer needs to enter his iBanking PIN matched with his unique User ID in order to access his account information and/or transact online. DBS iBanking access is based on a unique User ID that cannot be duplicated by any other user on the system, and a PIN tied to that User ID. Our system requires an alphanumeric User ID (5 to 20 characters) and a numeric PIN (6 to 9 digits). DBS will never request for any of your personal information through emails or telephone.
Multi-factor authentication. DBS employs multi-factor authentication that consists of a user PIN, two factor (2FA) token and SMS to secure your online transactions. User PIN and 2FA token are used during login and online transaction whereas SMS are activated for higher risk transaction such as add third party payee.
Transaction alerts. DBS will alert you when a transaction is performed from your account. You have a choice of customizing your alerts. For higher risk transaction, DBS will mandate the use of SMS alerts to provide you with a peaceful sleep when you bank with us.
Automatic logout feature. When our system detects that your login session has not recorded any activity for some time, your active session of iBanking will be automatically terminated. You will need to login again using your User ID and PIN if you wish to access the service.
Customizable transfer limit. DBS provides you with the ability to customize the transfer limit for your third party fund transfer limit to DBS/POSB Bank account or other Bank account.

Ensure that Verisign logo appears on DBS / POSB iBanking site.
