My kid (2 y.o) starts to pick on food nowadays. On good day he can finish 3/4 adult portion but on bad day he may just take one spoon then go into total rejection. Any advice?

What i learnt is that on your child's plate, always have at least 1 "safe food" they can fall back on so that they at least eat something! My child also has the habit of having fruits and yogurt after a meal which she loves, so on days she don't eat well i don't feel bad!

We went through this phase with our kids and I recall seeing this as a positive thing that they were starting to articulate their opinion/ preferences on things. 5 years down and it's not cute anymore whenever they complain about their vegetables!

In their toddler years, we all probably try to expose our kids to different kinds of food. I suppose it is only natural that they will start developing preferences!

Have you tried getting him involved in the food prep or setting the table? It can help get them in the mood for meal time so theyre more inclined to eat!

We kinda just let it be unless it’s happening too regularly. Also we will try to give more milk on days that his diet seems poor.

My kid (2 y.o) also pick on food. We don't force her. We normally provide her food she generally eat and explore new food occasionally. Since she can talk now - she give feedback like 'hot' , 'dun want; when she rejects food. Also if she has snack earlier she tend to take 1-2 spoon and leave the rest. Getting her involve in the food preparation may help.
