1 While you can buy and sell precious metals in different currencies, the cost price and market price of the precious metals holdings are represented in USD terms in your account statements, while the value of the holdings will be represented in your preferred portfolio currency.
Paper Gold and Silver are represented by credit balances in your DBS Commodity Investment Account. They are expressed in units of one fine troy ounce of gold and one troy ounce (oz) of silver respectively.
Each unit of the paper gold or silver is referenced to one ounce of Loco London Gold and Loco London Silver, respectively.
Non-Physical Ownership: You are buying and selling gold and silver in ‘paper’ form. This means that your holdings reflect the value of the specific precious metal, or has its performance linked to the price of the specific precious metal. You do not own the physical form of the precious metal.
Price Exposure: Your investments will track the prices commonly reflected in financial markets, allowing you to take a view on the price movements of gold & silver.
Buying, Selling and Proceeds: When you buy/sell gold & silver from your account, the proceeds can be debited or credited to your designated wealth management accounts with DBS in USD, SGD, EUR, GBP, CHF, JPY, AUD, CAD, NZD, HKD and CNH.
Spot Settlement: Transactions are settled on a spot basis, meaning the transactions are typically settled two business days (T+2) from the trade date. This settlement period is subject to market holidays in London and other applicable currency centres.
