What types of online accounts can I open with DBS Vickers Singapore?

DBS Vickers Singapore offers Individual, Joint and Corporate accounts.

Individual accounts are opened under an individual's name, where only the individual is authorised to access the account. Joint accounts are opened under two names, authorising both individuals to access the account. This type of account is particularly useful for married couples or investors who wish to share assets. Corporate accounts allow you to control assets under the name of a corporation, and are suitable for business owners or fund managers.

What are the pre-requisites to open a DBS Vickers trading account online?

To open a trading account online, you must fulfil the following requirements:

  • An existing DBS/POSB savings or current account
  • Not an existing DBS Vickers customer
  • A Singapore tax resident

Customers who do not fulfil any of the criteria above will need to apply for a DBS Vickers trading account via hardcopy application forms.

How do I open a DBS Vickers trading account?

You can now apply for a DBS Vickers trading account online via DBS/POSB iBanking or Digibank app. Alternatively, you may download the complete set of application forms here. Once you have completed the application, please submit the completed application together with the supporting documents to us by mail or in person. 

For Singapore resident, your account will be opened with DBS Vickers Securities (Singapore) Pte Ltd. (“DBS Vickers Singapore”). A registered dealer with the Monetary Authority of Singapore. If you are not a resident of Singapore, please note that the securities, products and services described on this site are subject to country-specific restrictions and may not be available in your country of residence. You are advised to seek independent advice on legal, regulatory and tax issues relating to the trading of securities through a securities brokerage firm outside your country of residence. Please note that we are unable to open accounts for U.S persons, Nigeria, Iran and South Africa citizens/residents due to tax reporting requirements and/or internal policies. Certain restrictions may apply to Australians and Canadians.

How do I open a DBS Vickers trading account via online channel?

You can apply for a DBS Vickers trading account via our online application here. For customers without an existing Central Depository Account (CDP), you are required to fill up the CDP forms and mail it back to follow through with the opening of your CDP account.

The CDP application forms will be sent to you via email once you have opened your DBS Vickers account online.

If you have selected GIRO as your settlement mode, you will still need to setup your GIRO arrangement via iBanking. Alternatively, you may mail us the completed GIRO application form.

Is there a minimum deposit required for account opening?

No minimum deposit is required to open a DBS Vickers trading account. However, if you are not based or employed in Singapore, a security deposit may be required to facilitate credit trading limits for your account.

How long does it take for my application to be processed?

For online account applications, upon receipt of completed forms and documentations, your DBS Vickers trading account will be opened within 3 to 5 working days.

For account applications via hardcopy forms, upon receipt of completed forms and documentations, your DBS Vickers trading account will be opened within 5 to 7 working days.

Once your DBS Vickers trading account is successfully opened, you will receive a welcome letter enclosed with your DBS Vickers trading account number and a separate mailer containing your log in password.

If I am a non-Singapore resident, can I open an online trading account with DBS Vickers?

You may apply for a trading account with the following:

  • Your CDP account application form, CDP linkage form and DBS Vickers application form must be witnessed by a DBSV/DBS/POSB staff in your country
  • your local bank account statement; and
  • a valid passport with more than 6 months to expiry.

If I do not have an existing CDP account, can I still open a DBS Vickers trading account via online application?

Yes, you can still apply for a DBS Vickers trading account via our online application.

However, if you would like to trade in the Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX), you will need to open a Central Depository Account (CDP).

What is the difference between a Trading Account and a CDP Securities Account?

A trading account is opened with a securities (stockbroking) house, such as DBS Vickers. A securities account is opened with the Central Depository Pte Ltd (CDP). CDP acts as the custodian for your Singapore shares. If you have linked your CDP Securities Account with your trading account, your Singapore trades with the securities firm will be reflected in your CDP securities account.

For account applications via paper copy forms, your CDP accounts will be opened along with your DBS Vickers trading account.

How do I link my CDP Securities Account and Trading Account?

You can arrange for this by completing the SGX Apply for/Revoke Linkage Form in the account opening pack and mail it to us with the enclosed Business Reply Envelope.

How long does it take to process a GIRO or Electronic Payment for Share (EPS) application?

It will take 2 to 3 weeks to process a GIRO and about 3 weeks to process an EPS application.

How can I retrieve my Individual CDP Account Number?

CDP customers can retrieve their Individual CDP Account Number through a self-help option in SGX phone system by following the steps below:

  1. Call SGX Hotline at 6535 7511 ;
  2. Choose self-help Option 1 to check CDP account number;
  3. Enter NRIC/Malaysian IC/Passport number and CDP registered mobile number; and
  4. Once verified by the system, the CDP account number will be sent via SMS to the mobile phone.
