Eugene Leow

Eugene Leow is responsible for interest rates research.

He is best recognized for flagging policy limitations faced by major central banks in mid-2016 and calling the turn in global interest rates. In 2017, he called the carry environment and in 2018 predicted the continued rise in USD interest rates. 2019, he pivoted to a lower rates environment as global headwinds mount. In 2020, he predicted that the Fed would cut to zero and run quantitative easing as COVID-19 risks built. His research has been quoted in print and on television, including CNBC, Bloomberg and Reuters.

His timely research and insightful analysis are valued by external clients, such as corporates and investment funds in their risk hedging, treasury planning and investing decision process. He has expertise in evaluating and identifying macro imbalances, monetary policy and its impact on the financial markets.

Prior to joining DBS bank in 2011, he worked as an analyst covering economics, politics, and financial markets in Southeast Asia.

Eugene has a M.Sc. in Finance from INSEAD and a B.Sc. in Economics from Singapore Management University. He was also a scholar under the Financial Scholarship Program administered by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
