3 reasons why you should register your NRIC for PayNow
If you've only got a minute:
- Register your NRIC with PayNow to receive government payouts and other funds more quickly.
- Receive payments from companies directly to your account without the hassle of waiting for cheques and making trips to the bank.
- As more services adopt PayNow, having your NRIC registered will allow you to enjoy future conveniences and benefits.
From paying for hawker meals and settling bills to transferring money to friends, PayNow has brought unparalleled convenience to our lives.
However, if you're a PayNow user who hasn't registered with your NRIC, you're missing out on 3 key benefits. (Note: This is different from registering your mobile number!)
3 benefits of registering your NRIC for PayNow
1. Enjoy quicker payout from government initiatives and businesses
From time to time, our government carries out initiatives, such as care and support schemes, to provide benefits for Singaporeans.
An example is the GST Voucher (GSTV) – Cash scheme that offers enhanced cash payouts of up to S$850 starting August 2024, to help lower-income Singaporeans with their daily living expenses.
If you had registered your NRIC with PayNow, you would have received your payouts almost instantly (when the funds are released by the Goverment) than those who used traditional bank transfer methods, which might take up to several days.
PayNow is now widely accepted across various platforms and services. This versatility makes it a valuable tool not just for receiving government payouts but also for payments from employers, businesses and other individuals. Whether it’s a salary, a reimbursement, or a gift, PayNow facilitates a wide range of transactions for added convenience.
2. Added security and ease of use
Have you experienced the frustration of waiting for a company’s cheque to be disbursed and cleared - what seems like an endless wait?
Cheques can be troublesome due to their time-consuming process (mailing, bank visits and clearing times). They also carry risks of loss, theft and fraud.
Additionally, cheques can incur fees and contribute to paper waste.
In contrast, linking your NRIC to PayNow offers instant and secure transfers directly to your account providing immediate access to funds without the delays and risks.
It also reduces the risk of errors and fraud that can occur with manual entry of bank details.
3. Future perks and convenience when more services adopt PayNow
PayNow was introduced as a peer-to-peer fund transfer service to encourage digital payments amongst Singaporeans.
It has since evolved into a digital payment tool for businesses with the launch of PayNow Corporate, where some companies pay their employees’ salaries via PayNow.
In contrast to PayNow, PayLah! is a mobile wallet service that allows users to store funds within the app and transfer money using mobile numbers.
PayNow, however, enables direct transfers between bank accounts, eliminating the need for an intermediary wallet. Additionally, PayNow offers the convenience of transferring funds using QR codes, NRIC/FIN, or mobile numbers, providing additional flexibility.
To enjoy the future perks and conveniences it offers, such as instant fund transfers for government disbursements and subsidies, register for PayNow today!
