COVID-19
I am going overseas soon. Does BBM Travel Insurance cover me for claims relating to the COVID-19?
No, claims related to COVID-19 are not covered under BBM Travel Insurance. For claims that are not relating to COVID-19, you are covered if you purchased your policy:
- On or after 16 October 2020 subject to all policy terms, conditions and exclusions; or
- Before 16 October 2020 if the travel adhered to the MOH updates on Border and Community Measures, subject to all policy terms, conditions and exclusions.

Who can buy BBM Travel Insurance?
Customers (including foreigners) aged 18 years and above who are Singapore Residents.
Who is considered a Singapore Resident?
Singapore Resident means a Singapore Citizen, Singapore Permanent Resident, or foreigner holding a Valid Work Permit, Employment Pass, Dependent Pass, Long Term Social Visit Pass or Student Pass Holder on the commencement of any Journey.
Can I buy BBM Travel Insurance for my trip to Bintan, Batam, or Malaysia for more than 31 days?
No, you can only buy BBM Travel Insurance for a maximum of 31 consecutive days for your Journey.
Can I purchase BBM Travel Insurance if I am travelling to East Malaysia, for example Sarawak?
Yes, BBM Travel insurance is applicable for leisure travel to Bintan Island, Batam Island and Malaysia including both East and West Malaysia.
What is a Family Plan?
A Family Plan provides cover for you, your Partner and any number of you and/ or your Partner’s Child(ren), grandchild(ren), niece(s), nephew(s) or cousin(s) who is/are a Singapore Resident aged between 1 month old and below 18 years old, or up to 23 years old whilst they are full-time students at an accredited institution of higher learning on the commencement of any Journey.
Who is considered a Partner?
Partner means your spouse or de-facto with whom you have been living permanently with, for at least 3 months or more at the time of Accident or Sickness.
Who is eligible to purchase a Couple Plan?
You and your Partner who are travelling together on the same Journey can purchase the Couple Plan.
Who is/are considered a Child/Children?
Child(ren) means your unmarried dependent Child(ren) including step or legally adopted Child(ren) who is/are at least 1 month old and below 18 years old.
Can I buy BBM Travel Insurance for my Child only?
Yes, you may purchase BBM Travel Insurance for your legal Child if he/she is at least 1 month old and below 18 years old at the commencement of any Journey.
If your Child is under the age of 12 years old, he/she must be accompanied by an Adult for any Journey made during the Period of Insurance.
The benefits payable under the Policy will be subject to the limit for Child Insured Person.
When can I buy BBM Travel Insurance?
You can buy BBM Travel Insurance as long as your departure date is within 180 days from the date of application and you have not commenced your Journey.
I am 65 years old. Can I purchase BBM Travel Insurance?
Yes, you may purchase the BBM Travel Insurance. For an Insured Person aged 65 years old and above, there are specified sum insured amounts on certain benefits. Please refer to the Policy Wording for details of coverage.
Are leisure adventurous activities such as snorkelling and trekking covered under BBM Travel Insurance?
Yes, these leisure activities are covered. However, hazardous activities, such as off-piste skiing, private white water rafting, mountaineering, trekking above 3,000 meters and scuba diving deeper than 30 meters are excluded.

Will there be any refund of premium if I cancel my Policy?
There will not be any refund of the premium once the Certificate of Insurance is issued.
Can I buy BBM Travel Insurance if I have pre-existing medical conditions?
You can still buy BBM Travel Insurance. However, pre-existing conditions which require medical advice or treatment during the 12-month period preceding the commencement of a Journey will be excluded.
When will I receive my Policy?
You will receive your Policy via email upon successful application online.

How to Claim
BBM Travel Insurance (policies purchased from May 2018 onwards)
To avoid delay and to ensure your claim is handled promptly and efficiently, please submit your claims within one month after you return to Singapore.
