Overseas Card Transaction Fees
Transactions made overseas or through overseas-based online merchants (including refunds and reversals) are subject to foreign transaction fees of up to 3.25%. This includes the bank’s administrative fees and charges imposed by the card associations (Visa/Mastercard/American Express/UnionPay).

Foreign Currency Retail Transaction
- For American Express, Mastercard and Visa Cards:
- Transactions in US Dollar (USD) are converted directly to Singapore Dollar (SGD).
- Transactions in other foreign currencies are first converted to USD, then converted to SGD.
- For UnionPay Cards:
- Transactions in USD, Chinese Yuan (CNY) and Brunei Dollar (BND) are converted directly to SGD.
- Transactions in other foreign currencies are first converted to USD, then converted to SGD.
- Exchange rates are determined by the respective card associations (American Express, Mastercard, Visa and UnionPay).
- Exchange rates may differ from the rate on your purchase date due to market fluctuations.

Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC)
- DCC is a service offered by some overseas merchants or websites that allows your purchase to be converted into Singapore Dollars (SGD) at the point of payment.
- The merchant converts the transaction amount from the local currency to SGD on the spot.
- The exchange rate is set by the merchant or their DCC service provider.
- Exchange rates may be higher than if you paid in the merchant's local currency.

Are fees charged on both the purchase and the refund/reversal?
Yes. Each transaction (purchases, refund or reversal) is processed separately. This means that the applicable foreign currency transaction fees are charged both when the sales transaction is made and when it is refunded/reversed.
Why is the refund amount different from the original charge?
Refund/reversal amounts may differ from the original amount charge due to the following reasons:

These exchange rates are determined by the respective card associations and (American Express, Mastercard, Visa and UnionPay) may differ from publicly available exchange rates (e.g. online sources) as they are determined at the time of processing (not point of purchase).

Yes. DCC may be offered on overseas websites that provide SGD as a payment option at checkout. Remember to always check the selected currency before confirming your payment.
