We are writing to inform you that the regulatory requirements for the Accredited Investor (“AI”) regime in Singapore have been amended to enhance investor protection. These amendments include changes to the criteria for an investor to qualify as an AI, and the introduction of an opt-in process to provide investors the option of electing for AI status.
Here at DBS, we are updating your records to comply with the new changes and taking this chance to re-emphasise our commitment to help advance your investment goals. We encourage you to review the details on the AI qualification criteria in Schedule I – FAQ, and the relevant regulatory exemptions in Schedule III.
What is my investor status and what are my next steps?
You have been assessed by DBS to be an AI and we will continue to serve you as an AI for all your accounts with us until 8 July 2020.
As an AI, you will generally have access to a wider range of financial products and services. If you wish for DBS to continue serving you as an AI client after 8 July 2020, please opt-in by informing your Relationship Manager or completing and returning the enclosed Application to Opt-In to AI status (Schedule II) on or before 8 July 2020.
Please also refer to Schedule I, Question 7, on how your joint account(s) may be treated.
What will happen if I do not opt-in for AI status?
If you do not opt in for AI status, DBS will be required to serve you as a Non-Accredited Investor (“Non-AI”) from 8 July 2020. There may be limitations on the new investment products that we may offer to you. However, we shall continue to provide services to you for your existing investments.
Should you wish to opt out of AI status at any time, please inform your Relationship Manager or complete and return the enclosed Request to Opt-Out of Accredited Investor Status (Schedule II).
