How can I apply for a DBS Vickers online trading account?

You can apply for a DBS Vickers trading account online or via paper copy application form.

Please note that we are unable to open accounts for U.S persons, Nigeria, Iran, South Africa, Russia and Belarus citizens/residents due to tax reporting requirements and/or internal policies. Certain restrictions may apply to Australians and Canadians.

What are the pre-requisites to open a DBS Vickers trading account online?

Effective 15 January 2018, all new DBS Vickers customers will need settle their trades using an individual DBS Multi-Currency Account (MCA)*.

To open your trading account online, customers must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Application is for individual account only
  • Have an existing DBS/POSB Current/Savings Account
  • Be a Singapore Tax Resident
  • Not an existing DBS Vickers customer

*DBS Multiplier and My Account are included.

Is there a minimum deposit required for trading account opening?
No minimum deposit is required to open a DBS Vickers trading account. However, if you are not based or employed in Singapore, a security deposit may be required to facilitate credit trading limits for your account.
Can I apply a DBS Vickers Account without a Multi-Currency Account (MCA)?

For online application, a MCA will be opened together during your application for a DBS Vickers online trading account.

However, if you are applying for a DBS Vickers online trading account via paper copy forms, you will need to have an existing individual MCA. You may apply for a MCA online here. Please refer to the eligible list of MCA accounts stated below for trade settlement.

Can I settle my trade using my existing joint-MCA account?
You can only settle your trade using your individual MCA.
Is MCA settlement applicable to corporate or joint DBS Vickers trading accounts?
MCA settlement is currently not available for corporate and joint DBS Vickers trading accounts.
Do I need to maintain a minimum balance in my MCA?
The fall-below fee will be waived only for the MCA that you have selected to link to your DBS Vickers online trading account.
Am I able to switch from one MCA to another MCA?

To make a switch, please log in to DBS/POSB iBanking, select Invest > DBS Vickers Online Trading. Go to Account Management and click on Switch/Link Existing MCA.

Note: A switch can only take place if there are no outstanding contracts/payment in your current-linked MCA account.

How long does it take for my application to be processed?

For online account applications, upon receipt of completed forms and documentations, your DBS Vickers trading account will be opened within 3 to 5 working days.

For account applications via hardcopy forms, upon receipt of completed forms and documentations, your DBS Vickers trading account will be opened within 5 to 7 working days.

Once your DBS Vickers trading account is successfully opened, you will receive a welcome letter enclosed with your DBS Vickers trading account number and a separate mailer containing your log in password.

How do I open a CDP Securities Account?

For account applications via paper copy forms, your CDP accounts will be opened along with your DBS Vickers trading account.

What is the difference between a Trading Account and a CDP Securities Account?
A trading account is opened with a securities (stockbroking) house, such as DBS Vickers. A securities account is opened with the Central Depository Pte Ltd (CDP). CDP acts as the custodian for your Singapore shares. If you have linked your CDP Securities Account with your trading account, your Singapore trades with the securities firm will be reflected in your CDP securities account.
If I do not have an existing CDP account, can I still open a DBS Vickers trading account via online application?

Yes, you can still apply for a DBS Vickers trading account via our online application.

However, if you would like to trade in the Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX), you will need to open a Central Depository Account (CDP).

How do I link my CDP Securities Account and Trading Account?

Customer with existing CDP account may perform digital linkage of DBS Vickers trading account and CDP account during the online account application.

Alternatively, you can arrange for this by completing the SGX Apply for/Revoke Linkage Form in the account opening pack and mail it to us with the enclosed Business Reply Envelope.

How can I retrieve my Individual CDP Account Number?

CDP customers can retrieve their Individual CDP Account Number through a self-help option in SGX phone system by following the steps below:

  1. Call SGX Hotline at 6535 7511;
  2. Choose self-help Option 1 to check CDP account number;
  3. Enter NRIC/Malaysian IC/Passport number and CDP registered mobile number; and
  4. Once verified by the system, the CDP account number will be sent via SMS to the mobile phone.
