COVID-19 Cover FAQs
Is medical expenses covered if I contracted COVID-19 overseas and back to Singapore?

Medical expenses will be covered if the employee contracted COVID-19 during the authorized business trip.

For Post Journey Medical Expenses, if the employee has already sought treatment overseas, the follow-up treatment will be within 60 days from date of arrival. If the employee has yet to seek treatment during the overseas trip, the first treatment in Singapore must be within 7 days from the date of arrival.

Under what circumstances will “Cancellation/ Curtailment/ Rearrangement/ Postponement be triggered for COVID-19?

In the event that the employee sustains Sickness (including COVID-19) while overseas and renders him unfit to travel (with doctor’s advice), Cancellation / Curtailment / Rearrangement benefit will respond accordingly.

If my trip is cancelled or postponed due to the decision of external parties cancelling or postponing the event / course / seminar, will the policy pay for the costs of such disruption?

No, the policy does not respond as it is not within the specified cause covered under the policy.

If I wish to cancel or postpone my trip due to concern of the pandemic, can I claim for the cost of cancellation or rescheduling the trip?

No, the policy does not respond as it is not within the specified cause covered under the policy.

Is Swab test covered under the program?

Swab Test without any diagnosis/symptoms or recommendation from doctor is not covered.

Eg. If during the trip, the employee is unwell, seek treatment and was recommended by the doctor to perform a swab test, it is covered (as diagnosed by the doctor)

Eg. If the employee went for a swab test for the purpose of entering a foreign country, it will not be covered.

Is quarantine (local & overseas) covered under the program?

If the employee is quarantined because he is tested positive or come in close contact with COVID-19 positive people and is put on compulsory quarantine, then it is an specified clause under the Trip cancellation wording and is covered. Please note self-quarantine is not covered and quarantine order must be issued by a government authority.

But if the employee is already aware that he/she will be put on quarantine when arrives at the destination and still goes ahead to book the trip (when COVID-19 is already a known event) and later decided to cancel or curtail the trip, then such circumstances will not be covered.
