Schneider Electric adopts a 3-step approach (Strategise, Digitise & Decarbonise) to help SMEs deliver results in line with climate action. This programme aims to set the foundation for SMEs to decarbonise by delivering the first 2 objectives of Strategise & Digitise:

Strategise: Trusted advisor on sustainability & efficiency

  • Measure Scope 1 & 2 GHG baseline calculations
  • Create Scope 1 & 2 decarbonisation roadmap

Digitise: create system of record for sustainability & asset

  • Monitor energy usage and Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions
  • Identify saving opportunities through energy assessment
  • Report and support deployment & progress tracking

To be eligible for this programme, your business must be:

  • Registered & operating in Singapore
  • Have a minimum of 30% local shareholding
  • Have less than S$100 million in group annual sales turnover
  • Have no more than 200 employees

Depending on your total energy consumption, the fees are as follow:

Low (<5 GWh/year):
Fees for 1 site = S$15,000 after Enterprise Development Grant
Fees for additional site = S$2,500 per site

High (≥5 GWh/year):
Fees for 1 site = S$20,000 after Enterprise Development Grant
Fees for additional site = S$5,000 per site

What is the time commitment needed from SMEs?

The programme will run for three years. Most of the strategise and digitise activities will occur during the first 12 months of the programme, with half-yearly reviews with the Schneider Electric team in the second and third year of the programme.

What is required from SMEs during the programme?

As SMEs will need to establish their baseline energy consumption and Scope 1 and 2 emissions, we would require documents such as past utility bills to ascertain their energy consumption and carbon footprint during the baseline year.

Does the SME need to pay the subsidised programme fee upfront?

The fees would be paid based on the completion of programme milestones.

Do I need to appoint a dedicated Sustainability Officer in my company for this programme?

While not necessary, one of the objectives of the programme is to transfer sustainability and decarbonisation-related knowledge to SMEs, it would be great for the SME to appoint a person to run the programme together with Schneider Electric.

What if the SME drop outs halfway throughout the 3-year programme? Will there be any penalties?

There will not be any penalties for SMEs that decide not to continue the programme.
