What is Taiwan QR?

TWQR (Taiwan QR Code) is a cross-border payment service you can use to pay merchants in Taiwan. It's Taiwan's common QR Code payment standard developed by the Financial Information Service Co. (FISC) under the guidance of the Financial Supervisory Commission and Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

How secure is it?

How are the exchange rates determined?

The foreign exchange rate is determined based on prevailing wholesale interbank rates or the government mandated rate, as determined by the respective card associations and/or payment service providers.

Currency conversions will incur a mark-up of 2% on top of the foreign exchange rate. The mark-up serves to cover services provided and administration by us and our service providers in connection with foreign currency transactions.

Are there fees associated with using the service?

No. Apart from the conversion rate applied, you will not incur additional fees from using the service.

What are the acceptance marks that I can pay via TWQR in Taiwan?

Accepted Answer

You can do so at any of the over 200,000 merchants that display the TWQR acceptance marks. The acceptance mark should also be from any of the following participating acquirers*:

Chang Hwa Commercial Bank (彰化銀行)
Hua Nan Commercial Bank (華南銀行)

Land Bank of Taiwan (土地銀行)

Will I know how much I am paying before confirming the transaction?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Before you confirm your payment, DBS PayLah! will display:

The transaction amount in Taiwan Dollars (TWD)
The applicable exchange rate
The final amount payable in Singapore Dollars (SGD)

This allows you to review the transaction before proceeding.

What are the transaction limits?

Your existing DBS PayLah! wallet limits apply to all TWQR transactions:

DBS PayLah!: Up to S$2,000 daily limit
DBS PayLah! Lite: Up to S$999 daily transaction limit

You can also change your own personal daily transaction limit within the DBS PayLah! app, capped at the above wallet limits for DBS PayLah! and DBS PayLah!

How can I verify that my payment was successful?

Accepted Answer

A payment confirmation screen will be displayed immediately after a successful transaction. You can also view the transaction in your DBS PayLah! transaction history.

My payment was unsuccessful. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

If your DBS PayLah! transaction was unsuccessful, please follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Check your daily transaction limit: You may have reached your daily transaction limit.

Log in to your DBS PayLah! app.
Tap More and select Manage Wallet.
Check your Daily Limit and adjust it if necessary.

Ensure sufficient funds

Verify that your DBS PayLah! wallet or the linked bank account has sufficient funds to cover the transaction amount.

Check merchant requirements

Some merchants have a minimum spending requirement. Ensure your transaction meets the merchant's criteria.
Please ensure the QR code is a valid and supported TWQR and are in the available acceptance marks.

Connectivity and app status

Ensure your mobile device has a stable internet connection.
If you are linking your PayLah! account to another service (like Google Pay) and the attempt fails, wait for at least 8 minutes before re-triggering the request.
Ensure that you are using the latest version of the PayLah! app.

Question 10

Why am I seeing a "Something went wrong" message?

Accepted Answer

This may occur if there is a temporary network issue, or if the QR code is not supported. Please note that the following types of transactions are not currently supported:

Personal QR codes(Peer-to-Peer payments)
Customer-Presented Mode (CPM) QR codes, where the merchant scans your QR code (which will be available in Q1 2027).
Selected QR Acceptance Marks, such as PlusPay, icash Pay and JKO Pay (which will be available progressively).

Please try again or use an alternative payment method.

Do also check that:

You have a stable internet connection.
The merchant displays a supported acceptance mark.
You have sufficient wallet balance or available funds.
The QR code is clear and can be scanned successfully.

Can I request a refund?

Refund requests are subject to the merchant's refund policy. If you require a refund, please approach the merchant directly first.

While paying in Taiwan via TWQR is a new addition to our growing range of cross-border payment capabilities, it builds upon our existing DBS PayLah! overseas scan-to-pay service, which you may already use for seamless, cash-free payments in Malaysia (DuitNow), Indonesia (QRIS), and Thailand (PromptPay).
